The National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF), developed by IDA and WDA in close collaboration with the infocomm industry, is a manpower planning tool that details the competency requirements of key infocomm job roles and assists in the skill development and career progression of infocomm professionals.
The NICF aims to widen and deepen the infocomm capabilities of infocomm professionals and those seeking a career in this field by guiding their career development against standards agreed by the industry and companies
The NICF articulates the competencies required to perform various infocomm job roles and serves as a comprehensive guide for career mapping, training and curriculum development, as well as organisation development and planning.
The NICF covers career progression pathways for both technical and management infocomm job roles across 4 occupational levels:
Application Programmer (Entrant)
Software Engineer (Specialist)
Applications Architect (Expert / Management)
Chief Technology Officer (Senior Management)
For more information, please refer to Software Design & Development job roles
The NICF is jointly developed and maintained by IDA and WDA, together with the industry.
A NICF Steering Committee has been setup to review and endorse the framework on a regular basis
